Becoming SAG-AFTRA finally is a huge accomplishment for me as I was having a very difficult time receiving waivers/being bumped up to SAG for the day(s) I was working on major motion pictures. The role of being THE Debra Messing's stand-in was magical and nearly surreal after being up for 24+ hours straight and it was done in one or two takes. Laz Alonso stars alongside me with the woman who is our suspect in detainment. This can be seen in "The Mysteries of Laura"'s episode "The Mysteries of The Red Runway" at the end of the show. (Photo attached) It was so mind-blowing that day, I had check in and was back at my suitcases grabbing the approved wardrobe and a PA stops me and goes "Open that red suitcase!" So I opened it and he says, "Put that blue shirt on and come with me! Hurry!". So I threw it on over my tank top I was wearing and I had yoga pants on but he didn't care. They took me through this whole building into the room with that woman (I can't find her name anywhere but I've seen her work before) whom was already in character and gave me a brief hello and they told me to sit down and have my posture perfect or intimidating. So I sat up straight and leaned in a little and they did the shot. Alonso put his hands up as if he were saying "Laura (Debra Messing), it's all up to you now." and he exits. A good friend of mine (The Best Boston Actor) Celebrity Chef & Top Winner of Emeril Live's Italian Contest has helped me a lot and he was my first Celebrity Interview Guest on "The Chaunty Show on YouTube" (Photo attached). I just received NYC representation and I'm looking forward to working with them to further my career. We created The Chaunty Show's "On The Road Edition" where those interviewed can opt not to go out in public and we can go to them to film. There's an extensive break down regarding the "visiting package" on my website http://shop.chaunty.com/. This can be added to guests' reels, I shoot from five to seven different angles (with close-ups), lighting and lavallier microphone packs and splice them back and forth and all together during post. The new season of The Chaunty Show will be coming out next year (2015). The show was created to showcase New Englands' amazing talent. We even took the show all the way across the United States just to film an episode with Ronny Marmo (owner/founder of Theatre 68 and starred in General Hospital for 100+ episodes, etc) with Heidi Rhodes (big into Theatre and big movie roles). This episode was shot in Beverly Hills. My YouTube channel is http://youtube.com/chauntelspillane/. My regular website is http://Chaunty.com/ and my handles for Twitter, Vine and Instagram are: T: @ChauntyModel I: @ChauntySpillane V: @ChauntySpillane/. Also, if you google my name a lot more cool industry stuff comes up. I also have 100,000+ followers on Facebook alone and 15,000+ on Twitter and around 3,000 on Instagram plus the other social networks out there. I am so incredibly thankful and still in shock with the numbers of people. I own a business named Chaunty Spillane, LLC in the state of MA and have since last year when my career began taking off more in the acting direction rather than the modeling industry. I will not and have never done nude or pornographic photos, it's against my morals. I grew up on the honor roll, making it my home every term of every year and once I made it to high school and was of eligible age, I applied to the National Honor Society, Westfield Chapter. I graduated top 30 of my 1,000 something class. I pushed my sister up in her wheelchair so we could receive our diplomas together (they let her graduate a year early with me so that I could do this...this was my request and brought my whole family into tears of joy).
I was offered a full ride to UMASS Amherst but I declined and instead took my studies and travels to North Miami at Johnson & Wales University's school for Culinary Arts---to be an Executive Chef/Restaurant Owner. Since that didn't tickle my fancy after less than two years, I moved on in a more spiritual/emotional direction and sought out my favorite past-times: yoga and meditation. The practice of both lead me to Yoga Teacher Training school at a prestigious award winning yoga retreat school in Easthampton, MA. This taught me a lot about my body and subtle movements and muscles I didn't even know I had. We were heavy into practice in this school. I owe my knowledge and tendency to not judge to that school and my mother. My severely disabled sister Nicole, whom has Retts Syndrome, is my Angel. She can't talk, walk by herself, feed herself, bathe herself, put herself to bed etc. She's basically like a large infant, but a very happy one and we take really, really good care of her. She has a total of five caretakers now that care for her on the regular including my mom and I. My sister is why I work so hard at acting, advertising, promoting, modeling to remain relevant in the industry, teaching Head Shot Workshop/Acting/Modeling Classes with EASPHOTOGRAPHY.net/Eric Snyder (good friend of mine), taking classes at Model Club, Inc. with Steve Blackwood and many other great instructors and acting coaches all over New England. I want to succeed for her and for my mom who is also an Angel for caring for my sister nearly on her own for 24 years and still maintaining a part-time job and some hair cuts/colors/perms at the house. I've actually found an acting meditation course that I may take over teaching, it's in transition right now and contracts need to be signed but it would be another great outlet for actors from NY to NH (All over New England) to practice and hone their craft while getting in touch with their Central Nervous System, which is what we all want to do to extract our real emotions to create the characters' believable emotions and body language/slight movements and stammers to emphasize come naturally after that.
Mainly, I am studying Meisner and Method Acting and practicing improv daily. I love to talk/improv but I love to listen to direction and really enjoy the crew and their beautiful hard work (because they are there before and after us actors working!). They work so hard, I admire anyone whom is considered crew. I've been on a lot of TV stations across the United States via 8 commercials in two years and seven appearances on local TV stations as myself (twice being interviewed for the industry and five times on channel 22 in western MA and northern CT on "Mass Appeal" with Seth & Ashley Kohl) plus the publicity that Killing Khan, the indie film that I co-starred in with the ever-amazing Jose Gonsalves, received (over 225,000 views on YouTube). Also, there is a lipstick named after me called "Chaunty" by LTW Custom Cosmetics (here's the link for proof: http://www.ltwcustomcosmetics.com/CatalogueRetrieve.aspx?ProductID=7311639&A=SearchResult&SearchID=10871584&ObjectID=7311639&ObjectType=27/). Lynn (CEO/Founder of) LTW crowned me with that last year in February 2013. I also was interviewed right after Arthur Wahlberg (not by choice, the pod cast requested me, very flattered) at the Gilgamesh World Premiere (by Rick Chandler) for the pod cast (The LotusCast...photo attached). Arthur kept saying hi to me and smiling and walked and chatted down a hallway with Oselito Joseph and I about what parts we played in the movie etc. It was very flattering. I also dyed my hair an auburn color (when lit it looks pretty red, like Debra Messings') and that was for a role in Sex&Drug&Rock&Roll with Dennis Leary (FX made for TV movie coming out next year). I play a new Indie/Rock/Pop singer who is beginning to become very well known. Think "Summertime Sadness", that song; or just read on to find out that I played Lana Del Rey. I am so thankful for all of my fans/followers/friends/family/supporters because without all of you I wouldn't have gotten as far as I have now.
I'm not saying I'm ready for a move to L.A. or anything, but if L.A. calls I'll be there if the project and/or price is right. For now, I'll remain Boston based. I have a sub-office out in western MA in the mountains. That is where I began my breakthrough into the Boston industry. With the help of Van Brockmann and JR Hepburn, writer of Killing Khan as well as all of my photographers/HMUA in western MA: David Blazze, Harris Davey Jr Photography, Still Raw Photo, Shane Suban (now a Multi-NYC Agency Photographer), Lynn Wegiel of LTW Custom Cosmetics, Leandra, Irene Mendez, Jayza MUA, Joanna Petit-Frere, Priceless The Nicest, Dan Minucci Photography for Drea Couture etc: I was able to create an image/beginning of a brand and bring in work from Boston or go to work in Boston. Boston was calling me; This was three years ago. From there, my career spiraled out of control and next thing I knew, I was invited to every audition in Boston, I was organizing auditions, I was a Publicist for an Amazon.com Best Selling Author from the UK, I was coordinating wardrobe for main characters, I was setting up audition locations for production companies and I eventually became good friends with David Gere. We worked together on the set of "Bleed For This", in which I was featured, produced by Chad Verdi of Verdi Productions and Executive Producer Martin Scorsese. I have always looked up to Martin and Chad and have always wanted to work with both of them, so this was an optimal opportunity and experience. They made working very fun.
I'm involved with Women in Film and every once in a while, I'll stop by a meeting. Last year I went with a friend and met Erica Derrickson for the first time which was wonderful, we began a professional friendship/relationship after this with much respect in her group Hollywood East Actors Group of nearly 8,000 members now compared to when I joined and there was around 1,000+. Everyone has helped make it what it is, especially Erica. Though, the amazing trailers and work that comes through her group and a lot of the other groups out there is mind blowing! There are definitely a lot of talent here in Boston whether it's in acting or film-making. I also co-manage a group called ModelsActresses International on Facebook and it consists of 30,000+ people, my point being there are a lot of great social media outlets for new actors, seasoned actors, industry professionals of other sorts etc to come together, show everyone what they've got, like and share others' work and succeed as a whole by working together. This is part of what my workshop teaches plus it's a social media crash course of over 88 slides on a slideshow running off of my projector I bought exclusively for the benefit of workshop/those who partake. I am here in this industry to not only help myself succeed but to help others succeed, we all only have one life and it goes by fast so why deny someone of fulfilling their dreams? Helping and giving back is the key for me.
Thank you for your time, take care, Happy Holidays and I look forward to speaking with you soon.
